Physicians formula mineral makeup review

Physician's Formula Mineral Makeup Review

I tried the Physician's Formula Mineral Makeup powder brush. I bought it for the purpose of brightening up my skin during the winter months and hoped that it would even out some of my blotchiness.

For what I paid, in comparison to other mineral makeup prices, I shouldn't be surprised at my results. It was comparable to using a regular powder on my face, with a bronzer highlighting.

While it was easy to use and the color was not hard to match with my skin tone, it offered nothing new for my makeup that other products I have used before haven't.

It didn't feel dry or change the way my skin felt, but then again, I was hoping that it would make my skin feel a little lighter.

I will continue to use the brush until it's gone as a nice sweep of powder over my foundation, but I won't purchase this product again.

Thanks Angela for your review.

I've never checked out Physicians Formula before so I thought this would be a good opportunity.

Below are the ingredients for their Mineral Wear Loose Powder (from their website):

MICA, ZINC OXIDE, ZINC STEARATE,BORON NITRIDE, LAUROYL LYSINE, RETINYL PALMITATE, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, METHYLPARABEN, PROPYLPARABEN. MAY CONTAIN: TITANIUM DIOXIDE, IRON OXIDES.

A quick check with the Skin Deep Database and I found that this product would receive a moderate safety rating. The ingredients that are problematic are the parabens, retinyl palmitate and the tocopheryl acetate.

Physician's Formula is not a signer with Safe Cosmetics and while they say on their website that they do not do animal testing they have not signed a pledge with either Caring Consumer or Leaping Bunny.

This product is horrible. I am 52 years old and my face is breaking out with these horrible pimples all over my face. I suggest to anyone not to use this product. I am not sure how they are getting away with selling it and how it is still on the market.

OMG. with all the positive comments about the products, I thought I was the only one that had this problem. But thank goodness I'm not. I really LOVE the finish but I dislike the result of having acne more than before. What to do to have this same matted look but different outcome. (

For those concerned about the Methylparabens and the Propylparabens, those are really coconut-derived preservatives. They are used in more natural skincare lines. Unless you are allergic to coconut, they are just fine.

I could find no information on parabens being derived from coconuts. My research has shown that parabens are derived from para-hydroxybenzoic acid (benzoic acid).

Made me break out like a teenager also. I used it for 6 months not realizing it was causing the acne. As soon as I made the switch to MAC my acne started getting better. After only 1 week I went from about 30 pimples to only two. Needless to say, I HATE this brand! Avoid it at all cost.
